Painter's Log Blog

Welcome to the Painter's Log blog

This is the first post on the Painter's Log blog.

Why this blog exists

I'm Kevin. I own Paintcrafters LLC in Wayzata, Minnesota — a working painting business. I started building Painter's Log because the software that existed didn't tell me what every job actually cost. It told me what I billed, not what I made.

This blog is where I'll work through the things I learn running both: the painting business and the software. Real bids, real teardowns, real mistakes.

What you'll find here

  • Job costing teardowns. Walk through completed Paintcrafters jobs: bid, actuals, where the money went, and what I'd change next time.
  • Pricing lessons. What I got wrong in ten years of painting. What I changed. What it cost me.
  • Product walkthroughs. Real workflows in Painter's Log — me using it for actual work, not slick demos.
